Friday Symposium:
Advanced Techniques in Organic Agriculture
with Amigo Bob Cantisano

Occurred Friday, November 13, 2009
9:00 am - 4:00 pm - Yakima Convention Center

This one-day symposium detailed the latest in practical farmer developments in the areas of composting, compost teas, crop nutrition for improved disease and pest management, foliar feeding, fertigation, fertilization practices, cover cropping, weed control techniques and pest management. The discussion was directed towards the profitable production of organic fruits and vegetables, based on Amigo’s 35-year farming and consulting experience.
Working with numerous clients, Amigo has developed innovations for successful organic farming, including monitoring techniques and equipment for improved evaluation of crop health and productivity, insectary plantings for improved bio-control, home-brewed foliar feeds, better composting methods, farmer-built compost tea machines and more. The symposium focused on the needs of experienced growers, yet topics covered were of use to farmers at all levels of experience. Participants were encouraged to send their questions and areas of interest to Amigo in advance, in order to provide him with the opportunity to address farmer issues within the context of the session.
