OREGON TILTH POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Title: Certification Director
Status: Full-time position, exempt status
Salary: DOE, also provides health insurance and pension plan benefits
Location: Corvallis, Oregon

Overview: Oregon Tilth is a non-profit organization, best known for the Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO) program. Since 1982, we’ve been an industry leader offering certification of organic food and fiber throughout the supply chain. The program offers certified operations economic opportunity in the marketplace. Of equal value & importance, the program ensures process and product integrity, thereby protecting consumer trust in the organic label. The program now certifies over 1400 operations of diverse sizes and production systems across the US and in Latin America and Canada. We offer certification to a variety of organic standards, facilitating access to both domestic and international markets. Through partnerships, the program also evaluates to other eco-labels in the marketplace (i.e. Fair Trade, Salmon Safe).

Purpose: The Certification Director is hired by the Executive Director to 1) provide oversight, direction and management to certification staff and contractors; 2) oversee and continuously improve operations of the certification program; 3) monitor its position in the local, national, and international organic industry; 4) develop and implement new certification policies and procedures as the industry evolves.

Candidate attributes: Ideal candidates must possess demonstrated experience and skills associated with a senior management-level position overseeing program or departmental operations. An essential ability will be to assemble and manage a team of diverse and talented people. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have practical knowledge of third-party certification systems/programs, organic/sustainable agriculture & food systems, as well as regulatory & administrative law. The position requires excellent communication, strong organization, astute delegation, commitment to customer service and professionalism.
